Hóquei sobre grama

O Google está exibindo, nesta quarta-feira (1), um Doodle em homenagem  ao hóquei sobre grama. Esta é a quinta imagem especial divulgada pela  empresa, que está publicando uma série de Doodles a respeito de esportes  praticados nas Olimpíadas de Londres.


 

Criado pelos ingleses no final do século XIX, o hóquei sobre a grama se tornou um esporte olímpico em 1908 durante os Jogos Olímpicos de Londres e, na época, era disputado apenas por homens. A modalidade ficou fora dos Jogos Olímpicos de Estocolmo (1912) e Paris (1924), voltando a ser praticada durante a edição de Amsterdã, em 1928.

O Google hoje faz uma homenagem para Eadweard J. Muybridge (9 de abril de 1830 – 8 de maio de 1904) de acordo com o Wikipédia Eadweard foi um fotógrafo inglês conhecido por seus experimentos com o uso de múltiplas câmeras para captar o movimento, além de inventor do zoopraxiscópio, um dispositivo para projetar os retratos de movimento que seria o precursor da película de celulóide, usada ainda hoje.
